Hip Hop Dance to Top 40 Hip Hop song, doesn't make sense in the Filmi-Fusion circuit. Same thing with Bhangra, I have yet to see jhoomar done in Filmi-Fusion circuit. I challenge teams to take an Indian song and create art out it, not represent a style to it.
It's been done before. Yes agreed that it havst been done in this circuit but other people do it.
Last summer in our entertainment set, we did jhoomer to Laung de lishkara. Great track for jhoomer. but either way... I wouldn't want to see a team doing that. I'd rather see a team do it to a punjabi track.
Now, it's a different story if you remix that track... cause that's what we did... we had a punjabi track as the main baseline and mixed it with laung de lishkara.. I think that if your going to do a style, you should still represent that type of music in some way.
For example... you said doing bharatnatyam to Nigga's in paris. I would much rather see a team doing bharatnatyam to a remix of niggas in paris with a dope classical beat to it. That atleast makes more sense then only doing it to niggas in paris.
To me... fusion isn't someone that can do bhangra to hindi, raas to hip hop, hip hop to bhangra... etc...
To me... fusion is being able to dance a style of dance to it's related type of music and do that in one performance...
Fusion is not a genre of dance... If i see a team doing bhangra to hip hop.. i wouldn't call that fusion.. I'd call that Bhangra..
