Here's my idea of what the placings should have been:
TMP: 1. Om Shanti 2. Fizaa Phillyfest: 1. Nashaa 2. BSB 3. Fizaa BB: 1. Zor 2. Azaad 3. Nasha A-Town: 1. Dhadak 2. Jalwa NNR: 1. Jalwa 2. Ada Jhoomti Shaam: 1. BSB 2. Zahanat 3. Anubhav Tufaan: 1. Zahanat 2. Fizaa 3. Zeher BOB 7: Dhadak BA: 1. Zor 2. Om Shanti BWS: Kamaal
All in all, if you look at the real placings this year, most of the teams this year were production heavy and were good at "hacking the judging rubric". In other words they had the fundamental things down to win competitions but imho didn't bring much in terms of creativity on the dance front. I know for a fact, next year and every year after (b.c of the new BA policy of not rolling over bid competitions) that the dance front will go up exponentially (not that this year wasn't amazing). Next year, we're going to see crazy dance routines from teams.
Best Dancing teams (off the top of my head): Jalwa, Dhadak, Genesis, BSB, Azaad, Ada, Om Shanti, Zor, Anubhav
Just for fun (off the top of my head):
Fav routine: BSB This routine was the pinnacle of BSB and had some of the best choreography the DDT scene has churned out this year and previous years. Props to them for upping their choreo. And their production was just amazing this year. If they were just a tad bit cleaner, they could have placed, but with their difficulty level and diversity of styles in choreo, it takes a heck lot more time to clean than say an HFD team with only one style of choreo. So props to them for making a SICK routine this year. I know they did Bollywood, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, and Bhangra which is just amazing.
Most innovative routine: Zor. Production quality on video was just out of this circuit. Truly a professional quality routine that is only seen with professional dance companies. This team is very dance centric yet still keeps a top notch production quality. Their choreo was really amazing for some parts (contemporary) and pretty standard for some parts (some of the bollywood parts) but they still delivered an unprecedented routine. Props to them for bringing such a high level of production and dance.
Best dancing elements:
Zahanat: Levels Skrillex Dubstep segment was really SICK. Although they had simple steps in that segment, they fully took advantage of their triangular/trapezodial cluster and created some sick "hip hop" visuals that you see done only on platforms like WOD,HHI, ABDC, and other legit hip hop competitions.
BSB: Contemporary segment and their chayia chayia bollywood choreo. Their contemporary segment was one of the best this year, next to Zor's segment. And, their Niggas in Paris, Bewafa dubstep, and both of their bhangra choreos were the best. They even included House footwork in "Beautiful people-Chris Brown" which is cool to see.
UC Dhadak: This team's whole style I believe revolves around movement on stage and creating overall visuals. They had some of the best dancing elements in our circuit and their choreo included, bollywood, bhangra, contemporary, and hip hop among others ( i may have missed). This team is going to continuously bring it with their dance heavy routines.
Best Bhangra: BSB, Genesis,NYU Pandas,Jalwa,Qurbani, Dhadak, Best Hip Hop: Genesis,BSB, Jalwa, Zahanat, Best Bollywood: Azaad,Zor, Anubhav Best Contemp: BSB,
Best Mix: BSB, kamaal, Baadmash, Azaad, Zahanat
Most Theatrical: Zor,Azaad, BSB, Zeher, Fizaa, Kamaal
