@Saatvik - Hip Hop Dance to Top 40 Hip Hop song, doesn't make sense in the Filmi-Fusion circuit. Same thing with Bhangra, I have yet to see jhoomar done in Filmi-Fusion circuit. I challenge teams to take an Indian song and create art out it, not represent a style to it. Hindi songs or any Filmi songs are endless. The range from Rock to Hip hop, and then back to Masala, Folk to Classical. There's so much good music that teams missed.

@Raj - poor guy, my bad bro. I said in a sarcastic way. But mad kudo points for you for giving us the quick knowledge and breakdown. Your pretty much on point!

EXACTLY!!!

This year, so many teams use Kanye West - Ball So Hard, but no body did Bharat Natyam nor Kathak to that song. To me that's Fusion!

Haha no prob! I knew you were being sarcastic but I think it needed to be outlined for the sake of understanding, anyways.

I think we're caught up in the win, win, win mentality and we ask ourselves "what should we do with our performance to win?" that we miss the opportunity to really create art like JB said.

It's cool when bhangra teams do dhamaal to hip hop songs or jhoomer to them, and classical to hip hop was cool but I think it's been done so much, I want to see something else being done to hip hop, not exactly sure what style of dance, some raas teams even throw in popular top 40 songs in their mixes,

It's been done before. Yes agreed that it havst been done in this circuit but other people do it.

Last summer in our entertainment set, we did jhoomer to Laung de lishkara. Great track for jhoomer. but either way... I wouldn't want to see a team doing that. I'd rather see a team do it to a punjabi track.

Now, it's a different story if you remix that track... cause that's what we did... we had a punjabi track as the main baseline and mixed it with laung de lishkara.. I think that if your going to do a style, you should still represent that type of music in some way.

For example... you said doing bharatnatyam to Nigga's in paris. I would much rather see a team doing bharatnatyam to a remix of niggas in paris with a dope classical beat to it. That atleast makes more sense then only doing it to niggas in paris.

To me... fusion isn't someone that can do bhangra to hindi, raas to hip hop, hip hop to bhangra... etc...
To me... fusion is being able to dance a style of dance to it's related type of music and do that in one performance...

Fusion is not a genre of dance... If i see a team doing bhangra to hip hop.. i wouldn't call that fusion.. I'd call that Bhangra..

I think this thread is getting off track, it's pretty much going back and forth who's right and what works.

EuphorEk Ada is going to shine next year. They are the only team I know that lost a competition (NNR) but came out looking like winners. They should be unstoppable next year.

Are there any videos of these teams performing? I would love to see how they performed their first time around...

Honestly, next year is unpredictable. Some teams have a rebuilding year and some teams are ready to do work. But I'm really excited to see new performances and see what teams will dish out. Times have changed in this circuit and every year new teams are coming out and blowing our minds!

Rookie Team last year: Punjabbawockeez

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFBwxbMBhSg

I was a founder, and not trying to be biased but the team is really just about to take off. They've got ideas and things already planned and they really want to break out this year. I honestly wish I didn't graduate just to be on this years roster. Their talent, their vision, and their passion is probably the best we've had in our short time on the circuit.

Just keep an eye our for these boys. Hopefully, they go above and beyond and breakout like UC Dhadak did this year.

I believe two teams will be on the decline after this year.

Zor- For some odd reason there seems to be a curse where the team that wins the Championship whether it be BA or BOB tends to disappear the following year. Examples: Jhalak, Wanted Ashiqz (they dont compete), and Azaad. Just something to think about

BSB- There's a rumor that Evan is going to med school next year, not sure if this is true or not, but its hard to imagine what BSB would look like without one of their number one stuntman.

I do get the slight feeling that TCNJ Saathiya will make their comeback this year, they have been trying for years, so 2013 should be their time.
