Punjabi Culture Society of Jersey City NJ presents its first vaisakhi mela and outdoor bhangra competition. The Mela is going to be held at Manhattan Avenue park, Jersey City, NJ on Saturday May 1, 2010 from 1 to 7 pm. The Mela will have the traditional Punjabi flavor not only in the food but also through the live entertainment (Gidha/kids/artists performances) on the day.
The bhangra competition will take place from 7 pm to 10 pm! There will be 8 teams competing in this competition. Registration has now started. The deadline for registration is on April 11, 2010. The PCSJC committee has decided to reduce the registration fee from $200 to $50 because of a very short notice to the teams.
Prizes are as the following:
1st place -$1500 & Trophy
2nd place -$1000 & Trophy
3rd place -$500 & Trophy
